The title commonly given to depictions of Christ as he was presented to the crowd for crucifixion. Latin for "Behold, the man." The story of Pontius Pilate is told in various books of the Bible. The 'Ecce homo' episode is from John 19:5. Matthew 27:24. "When Pilate saw that he was doing no good, indeed that a riot was impending, he took some water, washed his hands before the crowd and said, "I am innocent of this man's blood. It is your affair."
